A complete bare chassis rebuild in 2000. Almost every part of the car was stripped – inspected – renovated or replaced.
Body:
Fully restored by Arch Motors, the aluminium skin was completely removed and all chassis tubes were inspected – replace if required and powder coated prior to new Ali beng added, the car was then painted by TSK of Dartford in Pearl “State” Blue. All brake pipes were replaced and a new wiring loom was installed. This is a short-cockpit live-axle model identical to the original Series 3 Lotus Seven.
Engine:
The restoration of the car included removal of the original 1600cc x-flow(also available) to be replaced with a 2.0 Zetec. This was installed using James Whiting’s installation pack. The Engine has been rolling road tuned to produce 170BHP and runs through an uprated (hydraulic) clutch, four speed Ford/Lotus “Bullet” gearbox and the stronger Ford live Axle. The engine has Weber Alpha Management, Facet Red top fuel pump, twin Weber 40 DCOE carbs, and a Caterham performance stainless steel exhaust.
Interior:
New Caterham Sports seats were installed, new carpets, new doors, new roof (with bag), new heated windscreen, new luggage rack and a Caterham/Racetech steering wheel. The original tonneau cover is also included. There is a four speaker Kenwood sound system installed in the car – but designed for easy removal if required.
